January 12, 2014 - Stephen King gave a very successful performance previously on the Second Sunday Series, and we are very happy to welcome his return to the Series.
Born and raised mostly in Texas, he began playing piano under the tutelage of several wonderful piano teachers. However, he attributes his most formative years to his study with Dr. Arthur Houle (piano professor at Albertson College) while living in Eagle, Idaho for a few years.
Stephen moved to Oklahoma for his college career and first attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he obtained a Bachelor of Music - Organ Performance degree. Realizing the difficulty of a stable family life as a musician, he decided to pursue a degree in pharmacy. Stephen then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he earned his Pharm.D.
After graduating, Stephen sought a job in the Pacific Northwest and was hired as a pharmacist for Safeway. Stephen is father to a 5 year-old son, Aidan, and spends his free time collecting organs and exploring his recent interest in photography.

He has substituted at Englewood a number of times, and we have found his playing to be fresh and very interesting. We think that you will enjoy hearing Stephen’s perspective on the organ.

Since the completion of Englewood’s organ expansion project in 2010, we have enjoyed hearing our new instrument every Sunday during our church service.
